Privacy Policy

Better Parent ("we," "us") makes a mobile app that suggests weather-appropriate activities for families. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built Better Parent to need as little personal information as possible.

Information we collect

• Account information. When you sign in (for example with Google), we receive your name and email address to create and secure your account.
• Child profiles. You may add a child using a first name or nickname and their birth month and year only. We do not ask for a child's full date of birth, address, or other identifying details.
• Approximate location. To show local weather and nearby events, we use your approximate location or ZIP/postal code. We do not need or store precise GPS coordinates.
• Usage and device data. Basic, standard information such as app version, device type, and in-app actions, used to keep the app working and improve it.

How we use information

• To suggest and rank activities based on your local weather and your children's ages.
• To show nearby events and relevant gear suggestions.
• To operate, secure, and improve the app.

Children's privacy

Better Parent is intended for parents and guardians, not for children. The app is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Any child profile information is limited (a name or nickname and birth month/year) and is entered by the parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party services

We use trusted providers to deliver the app's features:

• Google Firebase for sign-in, database, and hosting of your account data.
• OpenWeather to retrieve local weather forecasts.
• Event providers (such as ticketing and listings services) to show nearby events.
• Amazon for product information and shopping links. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. Using these links does not change the price you pay.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers above as needed to run the app, or when required by law.

Data retention and your choices

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can edit or remove child profiles at any time, and you can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including authentication and access controls, to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will revise the effective date above and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app.
